CS:GO Operation Wildfire Case Presents the Bowie Knife to CS:GO Gamers
Operation Wildfire Case Introduces Bowie Knives to CS:GO
Regular updates are the lifeblood of CS:GO. The constant influx of new maps, missions, weapon skins, and more keeps players engaged with both the game and the thriving CS:GO economy. Turning to the community to source weapon skins furthers community involvement and gives the players more of what they want. Without these factors, CS:GO would not have grown into the behemoth it became.
On February 17, 2016, Operation Wildfire went live in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. For a price of $5.99, players could get the Operation Wildfire Access Pass. The pass granted access to challenge missions, the Operation Wildfire Coin, a stat-tracking Operation Journal, the Gemini Co-Op Campaign, the Wildfire Campaign, Blitz Missions, and access to weapon drops from several collections. Passholders also got access to the Operation Wildfire Case which featured 16 community designs and introduced the Bowie Knife to the game.
Fun Fact About the Operation Wildfire Case
This case, with the introduction of the Bowie Knife, was released a month after the death of legendary musician David Bowie. The Bowie Knife was named after pioneer Jim Bowie for his legendary use of the knife in a dual dubbed the Sandbar Fight. David Bowie drew inspiration for his moniker from the renowned pioneer. The timing of the release of the Bowie Knife is believed to be a coincidence.

In addition, the workshop item accepted for the MP7 Impire was actually the MP9 Impire. The majority of the skins in the case feature simplistic classic designs. However, there are a few featuring interesting color palettes and patterns. The full list of skins for the Operation Wildfire Case includes:

Market Demand and Rarity
At the end of Operation Wildfire, all players had a chance to get the Wildfire Case through in-game drops when it was moved to the rare case pool. Currently, there are fewer than 21,000 listings for the case on the Steam Community Market with the price hovering on either side of $2. Like many cases, prices started to increase sharply in the spring of 2023. As the case is in the rare drop pool, it is still possible for players to get it in-game. However, if they’re interested in buying cases then it may be worth their time to keep an eye on the Steam Community Market and other sales venues to grab cases when prices drop.
The skins of the Operation Wildfire Case, listings for the StatTrak version of the Fuel Injector for AK-47 hovers just above $600 with the regular Factory New version sitting at about $100 less. The next weapon skin to show up in the listings is the StatTrak Desert Eagle in Kumicho Dragon which is priced right at $100. Skins for the AK-47, Desert Eagle, and AWP were unsurprisingly among the most popular.

Due to the re-sized version of the Case Hardened Bowie Knife texture, the coveted blue gem versions are now much easier to find.
Get Your CS:GO Operation Wildfire Case
The Operation Wildfire Case currently exists in the rare drop pool. This means that Prime Status players have a 1% chance to get a case from this pool every week they level up. Given the low price of the case, players may find it more beneficial to purchase cases if they’re looking to open multiple cases in succession. However, if it’s a skin they’re after, they may have better luck just purchasing or trading for the desired skin. When it comes to knife drops, other cases may offer more variety and higher-valued knives. The best thing players can do when analyzing any case is keep an eye on market trends and make educated decisions that consider what kind of return they may see on their investment.
